Production Company Name

When trying to decide what to name my Production Company I had to think of a name that was relevant to a horror movie, for example 'Haunted Movies' made the film insidious. This means I had to think of a spooky yet professional name for my production company.
To do this I wrote down a list of words that came to my head when trying to think of a name; as shown below is a list of the first few words that came to my head.
  • Dark
  • Light
  • Spooky
  • Loft
  • Attic
  • Match
  • Noise
The list goes on....

I started putting words together such as 'Match' and 'Light', but this didn't sound that good and I wanted a better name than this. I carried on thinking then I thought of 'Loft & Light', I instantly thought that 'LoftLight' was the best name for my production company straight away and I think it would go great with my horror trailer that I am creating.

Ideas of LoftLight Production Logo:

I decided I could hold my camera in a pitch black empty loft/attic where you not be able to see anything on the camera other than a black screen. I could then light a match in the loft about a metre away from the camera, as it is only a match the loft will be JUST visible in the background. So, when the match is lit, my production name 'LOFTLIGHT PRODUCTION' will appear on the screen in front of the match. After a second of this being shown it will then all fade to black off the screen.
I feel that this is a very good idea as it can be done as it is very simple to do.

Mood Board On The Horror Genre

Shown above is my mood board for the horror genre. When trying to think of ideas for my trailer, these movie images inspire me to think deeply into finding new and terrifying ideas to use in my trailer. For example, I could use a quick cut of my main protagonist in my trailer, with a 'monster' behind him/her. This would be very effective and I could also use it for a poster to advertise my trailer.

Research on Marketing Campaign for a Horror

The following Market Campaign that i will be researching is The Woman in Black which is a horror movie. I have chosen this movie as it has the same genre of the film trailer I am creating. As shown above is the trailer for the 'Woman In Black' movie.

In London on the 10th April 2011, the films first teaser trailer was released for the public to view

. A second trailer was released in July 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (which also stars The Woman in Blacks main actor, Daniel Radcliffe). A worldwide trailer was then released on the 17th August 2011, which contained much more footage from the film itself.

The first official UK teaser poster was released on 24th August 2011, followed by the full UK trailer being released on 14th October 2011.

A one minute teaser was released by CBS Films, the makers of the film, at Spike TV's Scream Awards which was held on 18th October 2011. A day later, a teaser poster was released to the public.

In the new year, on 11th January 2012, Momentum Pictures finally released an official poster for the film, and the following day, a one minute clip from the film was released by MTV.

As a way of reaching those more interested in novelisation, the novel that the film is based on was re-released alongside the film, this time with the front cover featuring Daniel Radcliffe who is the star of the film, which would market the film further.
